Man knifes sister-in-law when she asks him to leave

COSTA MESA — Police were called to an apartment in the 2000 block of Wallace Avenue Monday afternoon, following reports of a stabbing, and arrived to find a woman with a knife slice in her arm.

Jose Campos-Barragan, 34, was pulled over nearby with bloodstains on his clothes as he attempted to drive away from the apartment, according to police.

An investigation revealed that the wounded woman was Campos-Barragan’s sister-in-law and that he had attacked her after she had asked him to leave her apartment.

Campos-Barragan, who was reportedly intoxicated, refused his sister-in-law’s requests that he leave, instead picking up a kitchen knife, going after her and slashing her lower left arm, police said.

Campos-Barragan was taken into custody and booked for alleged assault with a deadly weapon.

His sister-in-law was transported to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach for treatment of her wound.
