IRVINE, CA – An Irvine man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his roommate.
According to a press release by the Irvine Police Department, officers responded on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 17, to a report of a stabbing at an area residence.
A resident of the home reported that he had stabbed his roommate during a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers reportedly contacted Zackery Dean Hinkle, 22, outside the residence.
Hinkle stated that the stabbing occurred after an argument with his roommate.
Officers entered the home and found the victim, identified as Terry Rahmatulla, lying on the ground near the front door. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but Rahmatulla ultimately passed away.
Investigators reportedly believe that the two individuals had been arguing over the past few days, which escalated into a physical confrontation that resulted in Hinkle allegedly stabbing Rahmatulla in the upper body.
Hinkle was arrested on suspicion of murder and transported to the Orange County jail. No other residents at the location were injured.
