MILPITAS Calif, – At 23, Lashonda Dawn Gilfillan has now been arrested for petty theft at least ten times since her 18th birthday. With multiple prior charges in Santa Clara County and in San Mateo County, Gilfillan – aka Lashonda Dawn Meza – has been caught more than nine times for PC 666 Petty Theft. Milpitas Police reported that Gilfillan had gone to six stores located in the Great Mall on Wednesday, July 2 with the intent to commit Second Degree Burglary under PC 458. Gilfillan was found with more than $860.00 of stolen merchandise while shoplifting at six different stores located at 447 Great Mall Drive, in Milpitas.

Gilfillan was recognized by an employee at Victoria’s Secret, who had reported seeing her take items several days prior without paying. The employee called the Milpitas Substation for officers to assist in helping stop Gilfillan after the employee had tried to hold her for authorities, but she refused to stop. While the employee was talking with officers about the incident, Gilfillan was seen coming out of the Puma Store. She was quickly taken into custody by uniformed MPD Officers.

It was found that Gilfillan had items she had taken from BeBe, Marshalls, Neiman Marcus, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria’s Secret. It was verified by loss prevention employees that Gilfillan was seen taking a purse from the rack area at Neiman Marcus and then leaving the store with the item without paying. Neiman Marcus’ loss prevention employee estimated the value of the purse she had taken at a little more than $400.00. Items she had taken from Puma were identified as costing $107.00. Some items located in the purse were from BeBe, totaling $109.00, along with items stolen from Tommy Hilfiger valued at $71.00. Items taken from Marshalls were totaled at $137.00 by employees.

After prior convictions, Gilfillan spent totals of three and ten days in jail for recent Petty Theft charges under PC 666. Gilfillan had just been released from the San Mateo County Main Jail prior to this arrest for second degree Burglary under PC 459.

Bail was set at $55,000 at the San Jose Hall of Justice in Dept 23. Gilfillan’s next court appearance has been scheduled for July 14 at the Santa Clara Superior Court in Dept 38.
