“On January 19, 2020, around midnight, Palm Springs Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Desert View Dr regarding an adult male who was struck over the head with an unknown object. Officers arrived and found the victim lying on the ground suffering from a significant head injury. The victim was subsequently transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The suspect’s information was limited due to the victim’s condition at the scene. The object believed to have been used to assault the victim was recovered at the scene.

During the follow-up investigation, detectives identified Ryan Martin (08/28/1994, resident of Palm Springs) as the suspect in the case. Martin was located in the city and arrested by Detectives on January 30, 2020. The incident appears to have stemmed from a disagreement over property. Martin was subsequently booked at Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Ryan Martin is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
