LONG BEACH – A woman and her mother are each facing six years in state prison for violently dognapping a 72-year-old man’s dog.

24-year-old Erika Juarez Trujillo and 50-year-old Patricia Juarez, both of South Gate, ventured into Long Beach last month during their dog-napping foray.  “The victim was walking the 3-year-old Maltese-Yorkshire terrier mix when Trujillo allegedly pushed the victim, grabbed the dog and fled in a car driven by Juarez,” said L.A. County Ditrict Attorney Prosecutors.

For stealing the diminutive pooch, the mother /daughter duo were each arrested on one count of felony second-degree robbery and one count of felony elder abuse. The case remains under active investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.

Yesterday, the mother and daughter tag-team pleaded not guilty to the charges.  They will return to court on May 28th for their  pre-hearing conference, which will take place in Dept. S01 of the Long Beach Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
