Two Fresno Juggalo Gang Members Arrested in Separate Cases

Joseph Thomas and Daniel Casanova

FRESNO – Two men who are part of the Juggalo street gang have been arrested on felony firearms charges in separate cases, police said.

The Juggalos are known as being fans of the music group Insane Clown Posse, a horror rap duo composed of Joseph Bruce (Violent J) and Joseph Utsler (Shaggy 2 Dope). Insane Clown Posse has been releasing albums since 1992 and has sold more than 6.5 million records.

In 2011, the FBI released a report that tagged Juggalos as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.” Juggalo gang members, who sometimes don face paint similar to the face paint worn by Insane Clown Posse, have been documented by law enforcement in at least 21 states.

Fresno police arrested 30-year-old Daniel Casanova, allegedly a Juggalo gang member, on suspicion of cutting a man’s face in August and then shooting a gun at a relative of the victim who was chasing him. He was also arrested on October 13 on a firearms charge.

Juggalo gang member Joseph Thomas, 26, allegedly fired shots on Sunday, November 1 in Fresno following a dispute with another gang member. He has been arrested on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
