Man Arrested After Soliciting Under Age “Sex Pet” Online

A Granite Bay man was recently arrested after speaking to an under age girl online in the hopes of her becoming his “sex pet,” according to an official press release from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Shawn Michael Roediger, 26 of Granite Bay, was reportedly arrested without incident on the evening of Monday, August 4 without incident. He was booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child; communicating with a minor for purposes of committing a sexual act; and distributing harmful matter to a minor. His bail was reportedly set at $100,000 and he is currently in custody. His residence has also been reported as Placerville in El Dorado County, though the arrest report lists his home as Granite Bay.

According to Placer County Sheriff, Roediger had placed an online ad on July 29 seeking a sexual relationship with a “young girl” who would be his “sex pet.” A Sheriff’s detective reportedly responded to the ad, posing as a 13-year-old girl, and they corresponded for one week before they proceeded with the arrest.

This incident is the latest in a sting of arrests of men communicating on-line with detectives posing as 13-year-old girls and agreeing to meet up with the adult men who have solicited them.

The problem with this type of “law enforcement” is that the detectives posing as minors knows exactly the vocabulary and psychological games to play in order to urge the accused to respond. This type of enforcement is quite unjust. It is the powerful trapping people and accusing them of committing a crime that they never ever intended to commit. I stand that the accused is innocent until proven guilty. That is for the power of the people. That is for the protection of the people. Law enforcers are abusing this system, as well as the media. A man can ask for a ” young sex pet” (this DOES NOT say “I want a minor”) in a book or in a film and we find it exciting, dangerous, readable and watchable. A man asks for a consenting and equally interested “young sex pet” (again NOT ASKING for a minor) in life and we persecute him, and then go back to reading 50 Shades of Grey. It is sad how we allow the media to shape are opinions of a man we never met. A man that may be the victim. (Remember there was never a 13 year old minor. It was always an adult male law official trained in enticing an individual.) Facts. The people want facts, not a story. Thanks a lot media and U.S law.
