Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder

Grover Beach police placed a suspect into custody after he allegedly attempted to kill another man.

According to a press release from the Grover Beach Police Department, officers received a call on Sunday about 3:30 a.m. regarding a report of two males fighting each other.

According to the press release, once officers arrived on the scene they determined one of the males had fled the area.

Police say they discovered the other male had sustained serious injuries resulting from repeated blows by a blunt object.

The victim, whose identity is not being released, was transported to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital for treatment. It is unknown the medical condition of the victim.

According to GBPD, officers were able to locate the second male a short distance from the house.

The suspect was a transient, Michael Wayne Nonella, 22.

Nonella was charged with attempted murder and booked into county jail.

It is unknown at time of press what the circumstances of the conflict were.
