Ex-mayor Hahn pays fine

Former Mayor James K. Hahn admitted that he exceeded the $1,000 limit on individual contributions, including $2,000 in checks from Crown Realty, Development Inc., and owner Robert A. Flaxman, in seven cases between June 12, 2003, and November 30, 2004. Hahn agreed to pay $5,450 in fines to settle claims that he violated campaign finance rules in his unsuccessful 2005 reelection campaign by the executive director of the city Ethics Commission. The fine is $1 for each dollar in excess contributions received. Hahn was also fined for accepting excess contributions in 2003.
