Multi-County Highway Pursuit Ends with Arrest After Spike Strip Deployment Near Hahn Road
COLUSA COUNTY, CA — A vehicle pursuit spanning three Northern California counties concluded with a successful spike strip deployment and the arrest of a driver on Interstate 5.
The incident began on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, when California Highway Patrol officers from the Red Bluff area attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white SUV. The driver failed to stop, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit that continued south along I-5 through Tehama County and Glenn County before entering Colusa County.
During the vehicle pursuit, the suspect exited the freeway into the City of Williams. A CHP helicopter unit located the SUV from the air and guided ground units to the vehicle’s position. The driver again refused to pull over and re-entered southbound I-5.
An officer from the CHP Williams Area deployed a spike strip on I-5 north of Hahn Road, successfully disabling the fleeing SUV. The driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, brought the car to a stop and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was transported and booked into the Tehama County Jail on charges including felony evading.
