Escondido Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Sporting Goods Robbery Suspect
ESCONDIDO, CA – Law enforcement officials are requesting help from the community to identify a suspect involved in a robbery at a local sporting goods store last month.
Officers with the Escondido Police Department were flagged down by a witness at approximately 4:12 p.m. on August 19, 2026, regarding an incident at the Dick’s Sporting Goods located at 1200 Auto Park Way. According to police reports, an unidentified adult male entered the business, selected a pair of brown Nike Air Force 1 shoes, and proceeded toward the exit without offering payment.
A store employee confronted the individual and requested to inspect the merchandise. Authorities state that while the employee held the shoes, the suspect forcibly yanked them from her hands, walked out of the store without paying, and fled the area.
