Commercial Truck Driver Arrested for DUI Following Tractor-Trailer Rollover Crash on I-5

WILLIAMS, CA – California Highway Patrol officers assigned to the Williams Area office arrested a commercial truck driver on driving under the influence charges following a rollover crash along Interstate 5.

The incident occurred Thursday night on the right shoulder of northbound Interstate 5, just north of Delevan Road. Responding officers arrived at the scene to investigate a tractor-trailer combination that had overturned off the roadway.

While interacting with the driver, officers observed physical signs and symptoms of impairment. Following an on-scene investigation, officers placed the driver under arrest for commercial driving under the influence.

CHP officials noted that California state law establishes a strict blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit of 0.04% for individuals operating commercial vehicles, which is lower than the legal limit for non-commercial drivers.

The agency issued a statement highlighting the severe hazards associated with operating heavy commercial vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and urged the public to arrange alternative transportation when consuming alcohol.
