Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder in 2021 Anaheim Shooting

ANAHEIM, CA — A jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old individual in Anaheim in 2021.

On April 25, 2021, Anaheim Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 200 block of East Clifton Street, where they located Francisco Villagomez, 34, who had been shot and killed.

Homicide detectives identified Fernando Garcia as the primary suspect. Garcia fled the scene following the incident, but law enforcement officers located and arrested him in San Bernardino the following day.

On August 10, 2026, following a trial, a jury found Garcia guilty of first-degree murder alongside a firearm enhancement for discharging a firearm during the commission of the crime.

Garcia faces a potential sentence of 50 years to life in state prison. A formal sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place on October 16.
