Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder Following Stabbing Incident in Woodland
WOODLAND, CA — Yolo County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 34-year-old man Friday morning in connection with a stabbing that left a victim hospitalized with multiple injuries.
In the early morning hours of August 21, deputies responded to East Main Street near the Woodland city limits, where they located a victim suffering from approximately 14 stab wounds to the neck, torso, and extremities. Medical personnel transported the victim to a local trauma center for treatment.
Detectives identified the suspect as Hector Nieves, a 34-year-old Woodland resident, utilizing body-worn camera footage from a probation search conducted by deputies two hours prior to the assault. Surveillance footage obtained from a nearby water treatment facility captured audio of the incident and depicted Nieves’ red Land Rover departing the location.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., undercover detectives located Nieves and his vehicle on the 2200 block of Bronze Star Drive in Woodland. Deputies took Nieves into custody without incident.
Nieves was booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, and probation violation. He is being held on $400,000 bail.
