Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Ceres Ends with Arrest of 35-Year-Old Driver

On August 7, 2026, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies located a stolen Chevrolet Camaro within Ceres. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver, identified as 35-year-old Robert Edmonson, struck a marked Ceres Police Department vehicle and fled the scene.

A pursuit followed, reaching speeds exceeding 90 mph. The chase concluded when Edmonson rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light near Whitmore Avenue and Third Street. Edmonson subsequently abandoned the car and ran into a nearby residence.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home and deployed K9 Sulley to assist in locating Edmonson, taking him into custody inside the building.

Edmonson was booked on multiple felony charges, including assault on a peace officer, felony evading, vehicle theft, receiving a stolen vehicle, and hit-and-run causing injury. His bail was set at $305,000.
