Two Arrested in Humboldt County Fentanyl Trafficking Investigation

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA — “In July of this year, Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) began investigating Laurie Arias (age 60 of Fortuna) and Michael Wrightman (age 49 of Eureka) for trafficking Fentanyl throughout Humboldt County. Utilizing Flock cameras, Agents were able to see Wrightman travel to the Bay Area frequently.

On August 19th, 2026, HCDTF Agents served a search warrant on Wrightman and his associated vehicle on Highway 299 near Blue Lake, California after observing Wrightman travel to the Bay Area days prior. Agents located approximately 4 ounces of Fentanyl, 15 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and pay/owe sheets.

Wrightman was arrested on the following charges:

  • HS 11352(B)                  Transportation of controlled substances
  • HS 11351                         Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of sales
  • HS 11379                        Transportation for sales throughout non-contiguous counties
  • HS 11378                        Possession of methamphetamine for sales
  • HS 11370.4(c)1)(A)      Weight enhancement- Fentanyl exceeding 28.35 grams
  • PC 182                            Conspiracy to commit a crime

Arias was arrested on the following charges:

  • HS11351                         Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of sales
  • PC 182                             Conspiracy to commit a crime
