Traffic Stop on Highway 17 Leads to DUI Arrest and Seizure of Unserialized Firearm
SANTA CRUZ, CA — California Highway Patrol officers assigned to a specialized enforcement detail on Highway 17 conducted a traffic stop on Friday evening that resulted in a DUI arrest and the recovery of two firearms.
During the enforcement stop, officers made contact with the driver, identified as a Watsonville man in his 30s. Following an investigation at the scene, law enforcement personnel placed the driver under arrest on charges of driving under the influence (DUI).
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle during the arrest procedure, officers located two firearms inside the automobile. CHP representatives confirmed that one of the recovered weapons was an unserialized firearm, commonly referred to as a ghost gun.
Law enforcement personnel took the driver into custody and secured both weapons as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
