Cherryland Man in Custody Charged for Assault and Robbery in East Oakland
OAKLAND, CA — Jaeden A. Roach, 18, of Cherryland, remains in custody for assault in lieu of $260,000
bond, following two recent arrests. In the most serious incident, Roach allegedly assaulted and pistol-
whipped a juvenile during a robbery in East Oakland.
“Roach was one of five suspects who concealed themselves behind an apartment complex,”
according to a prepared statement from the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. “The
group waited for the victim to arrive.”
The violent ambush and robbery occurred on the 3400 block of 68th Avenue on June 25 at
approximately 3:15 p.m. A 15-year juvenile victim was attacked and beaten with guns, and
suffered serious injuries.
Roach was apprehended in Hayward on an outstanding warrant on July 29 at 7:45 p.m. He
was booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. While already in custody, Roach was
arrested again on August 3 on suspicion of vehicle theft. No information has been released
about the other suspects in the ambush robbery.
Multiple charges filed against Roach on July 31 include –
· Assault with a semiautomatic firearm
· Second-degree robbery
· Child Abuse
Roach is also charged with a special allegation for allegedly committing these felony offenses,
while released from custody involving an unrelated active case.
Since September 2025, Roach has been arrested seven times. He has prior arrests on his
record for burglaries, receiving stolen property, carrying concealed firearms, among other
offenses.
