FILLMORE, CA – August 1, 2026 – A routine traffic stop on the night of July 25 led to the arrest of a Louisiana man after a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department patrol deputy discovered a concealed handgun in the suspect’s vehicle and determined he was legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
A VCSD deputy, initially intending only to enforce a traffic violation on State Route 126 in the unincorporated Fillmore area, identified the driver as 51-year-old Shreveport, Louisiana resident Clarence Williams.
The investigation continued and a handgun was found concealed inside the vehicle’s glove compartment. A records check at the scene indicated Williams had a prior felony conviction, making it illegal for him to own, possess or have access to a firearm under California law.
It was determined that Williams was “subject of outstanding arrest warrants” from Texas and Louisiana involving charges of “pimping and pandering.”
Williams was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
