Traffic Stop in Carlsbad Results in Seizure of Methamphetamine and Probationer Arrest

CARLSBAD, CA — Law enforcement officers initiated a traffic stop in Carlsbad after a vehicle observed committing multiple traffic violations. During the initial contact, officers established that one of the vehicle’s passengers was currently serving a term of active probation.

Under the conditions of the passenger’s probation agreement, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and its contents. Inside a backpack belonging to the passenger, law enforcement personnel located approximately 443 grams net weight of methamphetamine, alongside materials consistent with the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Following the discovery, officers took the passenger into custody without reported incident. The suspect was subsequently transported and booked into the local county jail on several drug-related charges, including possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of a controlled substance with prior drug convictions, and violation of probation terms. The recovered narcotics and evidence were impounded as part of the ongoing legal proceedings, and the case has been referred to the district attorney’s office for review.
