Real Time Crime Center and Drone as First Responder Programs Utilized in 2 Recent Incidents

OCEANSIDE, CA — The local police department utilized its Real Time Crime Center and Drone as First Responder (DFR) program to assist patrol officers during two recent police responses involving fleeing suspects.
In the first incident, officers responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect attempted to evade law enforcement personnel on foot. An unmanned aerial vehicle operated by the department’s DFR unit maintained continuous visual contact from above, transmitting location updates to officers on the ground until they made contact with the suspect and took him into custody.
In a second, separate incident involving felony vandalism, another suspect attempted to flee the scene before responding personnel arrived. Operators using the department’s aerial surveillance system tracked the individual’s movements through the area and guided ground units directly to the suspect’s location, where an arrest was made without further incident.
Both cases demonstrate the department’s operational integration of aerial surveillance technology with ground patrol responses during active police calls.
