Two Arrested on Interstate 5 After CHP Discovers Over 200 Pounds of Marijuana U-Haul Rental Van

ARBUCKLE, CA  — An officer with the Williams Area California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul rental van traveling southbound on Interstate 5, south of Arbuckle, after observing the vehicle speeding. According to information released by the agency, the officer interacted with the vehicle’s two occupants and noted indicators of criminal activity, leading to the discovery of more than 200 pounds of marijuana stored in the rear cargo area.

Law enforcement reported that neither individual inside the vehicle possessed the required documentation needed to legally transport the marijuana cargo. A further check by the officer determined that one of the occupants had multiple outstanding felony warrants for drug-related offenses.

Both individuals were taken into custody at the scene and subsequently transported to the Colusa County Jail, where they face multiple drug-related charges.

In a statement following the arrest, the California Highway Patrol referenced its continued effort to intercept illicit drugs on state highways and maintain community safety. The agency also reiterated standard safety advisories for drivers, reminding the public to obey posted speed limits, avoid driving while impaired, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
