TURLOCK, CA — Three years after a fatal stabbing in Turlock, the Turlock Police Department has submitted a murder charge (187 PC) to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office against a suspect in the 2023 death of 17-year-old Dylan Ray Dooling.
On June 2, 2023, around 10:46 p.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a stabbing in the 2000 block of N. Daubenberger Road. Officers located Dooling on the sidewalk with a stab wound and administered first aid and CPR until Turlock Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel arrived. Dooling was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators determined Dooling had attended a house party earlier that evening. While leaving, he was confronted by a group of males, leading to a physical altercation during which he was stabbed. The group fled, and friends of the victim called emergency services.
Following an extended investigation involving follow-up interviews and evidence analysis, detectives identified a suspect. The individual was a minor at the time of the incident but is now an adult currently serving time in state prison for an unrelated offense.
Under California law, the suspect’s identity remains confidential because the alleged offense occurred when the individual was a juvenile. Consequently, authorities are legally prohibited from releasing the suspect’s name at this time.
Detective Frank Navarro and Turlock Police Chief Jason Hedden noted that the case remained a priority and commended the persistence of investigators, along with support from the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office and the Stanislaus Probation Department.
