San Luis Obispo Police Arrest Parolee for Felony Elder Abuse and Robbery
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Officers from the San Luis Obispo Police Department arrested a parolee Monday evening following the reported robbery of an elderly individual on Prado Road.
On June 29, 2026, at approximately 6:18 p.m., police personnel responded to an incident in the 400 block of Prado Road. According to the investigation, the suspect, identified as Anthony Smith, approached an elderly victim from behind, placed his hands on the victim’s shoulders, and instructed the individual not to look back. Smith then removed a mobile phone from the victim’s pocket, searched the individual for other property, and left the scene. Officials reported that the victim did not sustain physical injuries during the encounter.
Responding officers located Smith a short time later near the intersection of Higuera Street and Granada Drive. During the contact, officers recovered the victim’s mobile phone from the suspect’s possession.
Records indicated that Smith is currently on California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation parole for burglary. He was taken into custody and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of felony robbery, felony elder abuse, and felony parole violation.
