Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on US-395 Results in Critical Injuries and DUI Arrest
QUINCY, CA – On June 28, 2026, at approximately 11:14 p.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Quincy and Portola Area responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision on northbound US-395, north of Bordertown.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound within the northbound lanes of US-395 when it collided head-on with a northbound Subaru Impreza. The driver of the Subaru sustained critical injuries and was transported from the scene via a medical helicopter.
Following a driving under the influence (DUI) evaluation at the scene, officers determined that the driver of the Nissan was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested on DUI charges. Both northbound lanes of US-395 were closed to traffic during the initial investigation and were reopened at approximately 3:45 a.m.
