Search Warrant Leads to Seizure of 500 Pounds of Illegal Fireworks and Three Firearms In Modesto
MODESTO, CA — On June 17, 2026, investigators from the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit provided assistance to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office during the execution of a search warrant at a residential property located on Albion Way in Modesto, California. The law enforcement operation was initiated in connection with an ongoing investigation into the unauthorized and illegal sales of fireworks within the local area.
During the search of the Albion Way residence, investigators discovered and seized more than 500 pounds of illegal fireworks. In addition to the commercial quantity of pyrotechnics, personnel located and seized three firearms from the property. Among the confiscated weapons was a rifle suspected of being illegally modified into a short-barrel rifle. Law enforcement officials took one suspect into custody at the scene in direct connection with the evidence obtained during the investigation.
Following the enforcement action, the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit issued a public statement clarifying the legal regulations surrounding pyrotechnic items within the state. The agency noted that only fireworks designated as “safe and sane” and bearing the official registration seal of the California State Fire Marshal are legally permitted for use in California. The department further stated that the sale, possession, or detonation of unapproved, illegal fireworks carries statutory penalties, which can include monetary fines and incarceration, and noted that such items can lead to bodily injury or initiate fires.
