MET Team Search Warrants Results in Seizure of Firearms and Over 3,000 Marijuana Plants
MARIPOSA COUNTY, CA — The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) executed search warrants at two properties on Sunday, targeting unauthorized marijuana cultivation. The operations took place at locations on Hirsch Road and Old Yosemite Road within the Coulterville and Greeley Hill areas.
During the execution of the warrants, investigators dismantled the operations and removed 3,173 marijuana plants. In addition to the plants, law enforcement personnel seized seven firearms and recovered a small quantity of methamphetamine from the sites. Authorities stated that the scale of the operations indicates involvement by organized drug trafficking groups rather than individual personal cultivation.
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office indicated that these unauthorized cultivation operations are associated with environmental damage, the unauthorized use of natural resources, and localized criminal activity. The agency confirmed that investigators are continuing surveillance and enforcement efforts throughout the county to identify and close remaining unauthorized cultivation sites.
