Visalia Police Arrest Driver Found Unconscious With Loaded Rifle and Narcotics

VISALIA, CA — Patrol officers with the Visalia Police Department have arrested a man on DUI, drug, and firearm related offenses after finding him unconscious behind the wheel.

At approximately 4:09 a.m. on June 1, 2026, officers were wrapping up an unrelated service call near Tulare and Watson streets when they noticed a vehicle idling nearby in the middle of the roadway. When the vehicle remained stationary long after their initial call was completed, officers approached to check on the occupant.

Upon closer inspection, they discovered 53-year-old Jose Jimenez unresponsive in the driver’s seat. While attempting to make contact, officers immediately spotted a methamphetamine pipe sitting in plain sight on the front passenger seat.

Jimenez was awoken and put through a series of field sobriety tests. Following an investigation, officers determined he was operating the vehicle under the influence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded rifle, which was quickly seized.

Jimenez was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported and booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility on multiple drug- and weapons-related charges.
