Search Warrant Execution in Tulare Leads to Multiple Firearm Charges
TULARE, CA — On Thursday, May 28, 2026, the Tulare County Agencies Regional Gun Violence Enforcement Team (TARGET) executed a search warrant in the 200 block of South Mooney Avenue in Tulare. The operation was conducted with assistance from the Tulare Police Department and the Community Care Unit of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The warrant stemmed from an active investigation regarding the unlawful possession of firearms.
During the execution of the warrant, law enforcement personnel contacted multiple individuals inside the residence, including Ramon Gutierrez-Castro. A search of Gutierrez-Castro’s bedroom resulted in the recovery of an SKS rifle, multiple large-capacity magazines, ammunition, and gang-related items.
Investigators confirmed that Gutierrez-Castro is legally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms due to a prior misdemeanor conviction for brandishing a firearm in public, which carries a 10-year firearm restriction.
Gutierrez-Castro was arrested at the scene and booked into the Tulare County South County Detention Facility. He faces multiple felony charges, including possession of an assault weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person under a probation condition, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person due to a prior misdemeanor conviction, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
The completed case will be submitted to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for formal review and prosecution.
