Multi-Agency Task Force Arrests 76 Suspects and Seizes 66 Firearms in Week-Long Operation Consequences
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — A coordinated law enforcement initiative titled Operation Consequences, spanning multiple cities resulted in dozens of arrests and the seizure of dozens of firearms and narcotics between May 11 and May 17, 2026.
The targeted crime suppression effort, known as Operation Consequences, was conducted across Hesperia, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Bloomington, Muscoy, Rialto, San Bernardino, Riverside, Corona, and Santa Clarita. The operation included a focused enforcement action in Fontana and neighboring communities on May 15, 2026.
During the one-week period, investigators served 14 search warrants, contacting gang members and individuals legally prohibited from possessing firearms. The operation resulted in 39 felony arrests and 37 misdemeanor arrests. Law enforcement personnel recovered 66 firearms, which included 30 unserialized “ghost guns.” Additionally, officers seized nearly six pounds of suspected narcotics, including suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Two of the arrests during the operation involved the application of charges under Proposition 36, “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act.” Passed by California voters on November 5, 2024, and effective as of December 18, 2024, the proposition reformed elements of Proposition 47. The measure introduced several new Penal and Health and Safety Codes that allow for enhanced sentencing and can prevent certain offenders from being cited and released prior to a court appearance.
Funding for the county-wide crime suppression operations was authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to support increased law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues.
Operation Consequences is scheduled to continue over the next several months. Future operations will focus on targeted crime suppression and parole and probation checks in the High Desert and the Sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino to address violent crime, disrupt street gangs, and target illegal firearm manufacturing and trafficking.
The multi-agency effort involved the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, multiple patrol stations, San Bernardino County Probation, California Highway Patrol, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team (SET), and the police departments of San Bernardino, Rialto, Ontario, Montclair, Colton, Barstow, Upland, and Fontana.
