Daly City Man Charged with Murder in 2024 San Francisco Shotwell Street Shooting
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 28-year-old Daly City resident has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in August 2024.
The incident began on August 5, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., when San Francisco Police officers from the Mission Station were flagged down regarding a shooting near 20th and Shotwell streets. Officers were informed that a suspect had brandished a firearm at one victim and assaulted a second victim. Upon searching the area, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound near the 3300 block of 20th Street. Officers and responding paramedics administered life-saving measures, including CPR, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail assumed control of the investigation and subsequently identified 28 year old Darryon Harry Chun of Daly City as a suspect. On January 23, 2026, homicide investigators, supported by the SFPD Tactical Team, executed arrest and search warrants at Chun’s residence. Chun was taken into custody at that time but was later released pending further investigation.
Following the acquisition of additional evidence, an arrest warrant for Chun was issued on May 5, 2026. On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the SFPD Tactical Team executed the warrant at Chun’s residence, taking him into custody without further incident. During the operation, officers confiscated multiple firearms, ammunition, and other evidence.
Chun was transported to the San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on charges of murder under California Penal Code Section 187(a) PC.
