San Bernardino County Authorities Report Seizures and Arrests in Crime Suppression Operation

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Between April 20 and April 26, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a series of enforcement actions as part of a county-wide crime suppression effort. Investigators from the Gangs/Narcotics Division worked alongside patrol deputies. In addition, personnel from various partnering agencies served 14 search warrants throughout the county. Concurrently, the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team (SET) carried out proactive patrols within the city of San Bernardino and its surrounding areas.

During this one-week operational period, law enforcement officials contacted individuals identified as gang members or persons legally prohibited from possessing firearms. As a result, these efforts led to the seizure of 31 firearms. Eight of those were classified as ghost guns. A total of 23 arrests were made. This included 21 felony charges and two misdemeanor charges.

The operations are part of a broader initiative known as Operation Consequences. This initiative is supported by funds authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. This funding is intended to address quality-of-life issues by increasing law enforcement services in targeted areas. The mission focuses on the High Desert and the sheriff’s jurisdictions adjacent to the city of San Bernardino.

Operation Consequences is scheduled to continue over the next several months. The multi-agency task force includes the California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The primary objectives of the operation are to reduce violent crime, dismantle criminal street gangs, and apprehend individuals involved in the illegal possession, manufacture, and trafficking of firearms.
