SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco Police Department officers arrested two suspects following reports of gunfire in the Russian Hill neighborhood on April 12, 2026. The initial response occurred at approximately 2:56 a.m. after reports of a suspicious occurrence involving shots fired.
During the investigation, officers identified a vehicle with two occupants that was seen traveling past a residence at the time of the incident. Investigators with the Special Investigation Division (SID) determined the vehicle was registered to 25-year-old Amanda Tom of San Francisco.
Officers subsequently responded to the 2000 block of Taylor Street, where they detained Tom and 23-year-old Muhamad Tarik Hussein. A search warrant was served at the residence, resulting in the seizure of three firearms.
Based on the evidence gathered, investigators established probable cause to arrest both individuals. Tom and Hussein were transported to the San Francisco County Jail and booked on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm.
Chief Derrick Lew stated that the arrests were the result of the department’s efforts to address gun-related incidents and remove weapons from public areas. The San Francisco Police Department confirmed the investigation remains open and active.
