Suspect Arrested in Desert Hot Springs Homicide Case from 2022

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — The Desert Hot Springs Police Department has announced an arrest in connection a homicide case from 2022 that claimed the life of Jayson Jamar Green. The arrest follows a multi-year investigation into a shooting that occurred on July 18, 2022.

On the date of the incident, officers responded to reports of gunfire near Buena Vista Avenue and West Drive. Upon arrival, they located Green, 41, with multiple gunshot wounds. Green was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. While the case initially went cold despite investigative efforts, detectives recently reopened the file after identifying new leads.

On March 31, 2026, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team (GIT) located 28-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident Camilo Castillo in Los Angeles. Castillo was arrested and transported to Riverside County, where he was booked on suspicion of murder.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office filed formal charges against Castillo on April 8, 2026. The charges include:

  • First Degree Murder (Penal Code 187(a))
  • Firearm Enhancements
  • Prior Prison Offense Enhancements

Castillo is currently being held in custody with bail set at $1,000,000.
