ANTIOCH, CA —Davis Bahrami, 26, of Antioch, was arrested on March 23, following a botched robbery of
a bank inside a supermarket . Bahrami was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he
currently remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Police responded shortly after 6:15 p.m. to the U.S. Bank inside Raley’s supermarket, 3632 Lone Tree
Way. Bahrami allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money to no avail. Store security personnel
observed what was happening, and they detained Bahrami until Antioch police arrived at the scene.
The situation turned chaotic when the police arrived. Bahrami allegedly attempted to jump out from a
police car while officers were processing his arrest. A struggle and the suspect’s attempted escape
culminated in paramedics being dispatched.
Officers and paramedics eventually restrained the feisty suspect. No injuries of staff or customers
were reported at the bank or supermarket.
However, Bahrami was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation, before being transported to jail. He
was booked on suspicion of second-degree robbery, pending further investigation, including his
release on bond for another incident in February.
Bahrami was released on $270,000 bond involving a prior arrest for armed robbery at the nearby
FoodMaxx supermarket on February 20. He was injured during this incident.
The following charges were filed against Bahrami pertaining to this earlier incident –
· Armed robbery
· Assault with deadly weapon on an officer
· Felony evasion
The Raley’s supermarket where the botched bank robbery occurred will be closed at the end of April.
Raley’s spokesperson Carol Barsotti cited crime, blight, and a nearby methadone clinic for its decision
to close the supermarket.
