SAN PABLO — Charges were filed on March 16 against two men for a gang-related murder in San
Pablo.
The suspects are Richmond residents Daveon V. Reed, 22 and Adonis A. Gordon, 21. Reed
and Gordon were arrested on March 12, and ineligible for release on bond.
The murder victim, 36-year-old Richmond resident Clarence Hughes Jr., was fatally shot on December
29.
San Pablo officers found him on the 1400 block of Rumrill Boulevard in San Pablo. A second
victim, another 36-year-old man from Richmond, was also shot, but he survived.
Altogether, five suspects were arrested in connection with these gang-related shootings, which remain
under investigation. Two other suspects who were arrested were released from custody pending
further investigation, and another suspect is being held in custody in Southern California for an
unrelated incident.
San Pablo detectives used the city’s surveillance cameras and automated license plate readers to
identify suspects. Their investigation included searches of five residences in Richmond and Berkeley.
Reed and Gordon were apprehended during those searches.
The arrests were made with assistance from Berkeley and Richmond police, Contra Costa County
Sheriff’s Office and Central County SWAT Team. Reed and Gordon are being held at the Martinez
Detention Facility.
Charges filed against Reed and Gordon include –
· Murder
· Murder committed for street gang purpose
· Murder from a motor vehicle
· Intentional discharge of a firearm
· Attempted murder
· Street gang terrorism with witness intimidation
· Street gang conspiracy
