South Sacramento Suspect Arrested for Illegal Weapons and Released by Court on Own Recognizance
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA — “On February 25, Central POP (Problem Oriented Policing) deputies served search warrants related to an investigation involving illegal firearms in South Sacramento.
During the investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for 23-year-old Javier Gilmore’s home.
While searching his room, deputies located a loaded short-barreled Draco-style rifle with a live round in the chamber and an extended magazine containing more than ten rounds of ammunition.
Deputies also recovered a loaded (illegal) 50-round handgun magazine during the search. A records check of the gun showed that it was not registered.
Gilmore was taken into custody and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he was booked on related weapons charges.
He was released by the courts on his own recognizance two days later. Per California law, Gilmore’s crimes are considered non-violent and his booking photo is not eligible for public release.”
