Man Arrested in Connection with Alleged Shooting, Assault in Fresno
FRESNO, CA — “On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Central Policing District officers were dispatched to First Street and Clinton Avenue regarding a report of shots fired. Officers contacted two victims who reported they were at a business near North First Street and East Belmont Avenue when a known subject, later identified as 29-year-old Suspect Rudy Aaron Molano, exited the business. As Molano exited the business, he made eye contact with one of the victims and punched the victim. The victim attempted to defend himself, but Suspect Molano returned to his vehicle, and displayed a handgun before driving away.
Both victims later noticed the suspect vehicle following them while they were in the area near North First Street and East Tulare Street. The victims drove round and attempted to avoid the suspect vehicle. As the victims made a U-turn headed back towards the freeway, the victim vehicle and the suspect vehicle passed each other. Suspect Molano aimed a firearm at the victims and fired approximately three to four rounds.
Felony Assault Unit detectives positively identified Suspect Molano as the suspect responsible for the shooting and authored a Ramey warrant for his arrest. On March 2, 2026, detectives received information that Suspect Molano was at a residence near East Church Avenue and South Holloway Avenue and they conducted a surround and call out at the location. After an extended period of time of negotiating with Molano, Molano exited the residence without incident. Detectives conducted a search warrant at the residence and located ammunition consistent with the ammunition utilized during the initial shooting. Molano was booked into the Fresno County Jail without incident for multiple charges related to this shooting investigation.”
