San Bernardino County Authorities Conduct Targeted Crime Suppression Under Operation Consequences

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Between January 26, 2026, and February 1, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a series of law enforcement actions under the designation Operation Consequences. Investigators from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, in coordination with patrol station deputies and personnel from multiple partnering agencies, served nine search warrants and initiated contact with suspects throughout the county. These operations took place in the municipalities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Hesperia, and San Bernardino.

During this one-week period, the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team (SET) carried out proactive patrols within San Bernardino and its surrounding jurisdictions. Law enforcement officials reported contacting individuals identified as gang members and persons legally prohibited from possessing firearms. These interactions resulted in the seizure of 13 firearms, including one ghost gun. A total of 100 arrests were made during the operational window, consisting of 43 felony and 57 misdemeanor charges.

Funding for these county-wide crime suppression efforts was authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. The allocation is intended to provide the Sheriff’s Department with resources to increase law enforcement services regarding quality-of-life issues within the county.

Operation Consequences is scheduled to continue over the next several months, focusing on the High Desert region and areas surrounding the city of San Bernardino. The initiative involves a coalition of agencies, including the Specialized Enforcement Division, the California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The stated objectives of the ongoing operation are to address violent crime, disrupt criminal street gang activity, and apprehend individuals involved in the illegal possession, manufacture, or trafficking of firearms.
