Magalia Man Arrested for Alleged Felony Meth Possession During Traffic Stop

MAGALIA, CA — “On February 2, 2026, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy on patrol in Magalia conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Corvette near Rosewood Drive and Skyway for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Shane Gibson, age 57 of Paradise.

A Paradise Police Department K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

During a subsequent search, deputies located a backpack in the vehicle containing approximately 16.57 grams of methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Gibson was arrested and transported to Butte County Jail. He was booked on the following charges:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Additionally, due to the enhanced penalties under Proposition 36 for individuals with two or more prior drug-related convictions, a felony drug charge was added to the booking.”
