Two Suspects Charged for 3 Murders Outside an Oakland Liquor Store
– By Jim Emerson
OAKLAND, CA — Homicide detectives arrested two suspects in connection with three fatal
shootings outside an Oakland liquor store.
Angelo L. Pharr, 37 of Stockton, was arrested on January 27, and Darrell G. Tatmon, 40, of Oakland was arrested on January 22.
Pharr and Tatmon are each charged with three counts of murder. Both men remain in custody
at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, ineligible for release on bond.
The triple-fatal shootings occurred on January 3 shortly after 3 a.m., at Sky Market, 8433
International Boulevard. Oakland police responded to an alert notification from the city’s
ShotSpotter automated gunfire detection system.
Responding officers found two brothers, Kevin A. Valdez-Gomez, 22, and Luis A. Valdez-
Gomez, 19, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim identified as an
innocent bystander, 54-year-old Miguel Ramirez died at a nearby hospital.
Investigators believe Pharr and Tatmon were the aggressors during a shootout involving
multiple persons. Evidently, an argument concerning an attempted purchase of cannabis
escalated to gunfire.
Pharr and Tatmon are both felons who are prohibited for possessing firearms. Pharr was
convicted in 2007 for possession of cocaine base for sale, and assault with firearm in 2011.
Tatmon has prior drug-related convictions in 2013, 2011, 1987, and 1985. He was convicted
for possession of a firearm by a felon in 2018, 2017, and 2006.
The investigation of the liquor store murders remains ongoing. Anyone with information can
