Grover Beach Man Arrested Following SWAT Activation and Surrender
GROVER BEACH, CA — On Saturday, January 24, 2026, officers from the Grover Beach Police Department initiated an investigation into a domestic violence report originating from the 600 block of North 12th Street. Police initially contacted a female victim at a local hospital, where they determined that a felony domestic violence incident had taken place.
Following the interview, patrol officers attempted to take a male suspect into custody at a residence on North 12th Street. The individual refused to exit the home or cooperate with officers’ requests to come to the door. During the ensuing investigation, authorities learned that a small child was present inside the residence with the suspect.
Due to safety considerations, the San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT Team was activated to assist at the scene. Once SWAT personnel were deployed, negotiators established communication with the suspect and secured a peaceful surrender. The suspect exited the residence with the child and was taken into custody without further incident. Officials confirmed the child was uninjured and was subsequently released to a family member.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Grover Beach resident Lorenzo Zamora Torres, was arrested and transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail. Torres was booked on charges including domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of a restraining order. The Grover Beach Police Department acknowledged the assistance of neighboring public safety partners in the resolution of the incident.
