Torrey Pines Park Patrol Leads to Narcotics Arrest and Multiple Sales Charges
MURRIETA, CA — Officers with the San Diego Police Department arrested a male suspect on narcotics-related charges following a proactive patrol at a Torrey Pines park. The encounter began when officers contacted the individual outside of his vehicle, noting that he displayed physical signs of being under the influence.
A subsequent pat-down search of the individual led to the discovery of a methamphetamine pipe and other narcotics paraphernalia in his pocket. During the ensuing investigation, the suspect informed officers that fentanyl was located inside his vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted incident to the arrest, resulting in the recovery of fentanyl, methamphetamine, a digital scale, and additional narcotics paraphernalia.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to jail. He faces multiple charges under the California Health and Safety Code, including possession of a controlled substance for sales (11351(a)) and transportation of narcotics for sale (11379(a)). Due to the location of the incident, the individual also faces charges for the possession of narcotics for sale near a school (11353.6(g)) and sales within 100 yards of a park (11353.7). Law enforcement officials stated that the arrest was the result of proactive patrol efforts intended to monitor public spaces.
