Ventura police detectives arrested Timothy Schooler-Hart, 23, of Ventura on December
23, identifying him as responsible for a string of violent, early-morning assaults.

Schooler-Hart was taken into custody after investigators spent weeks tracking leads and
reviewing neighborhood surveillance footage tied to the attacks, which were first reported in late
November. He was later booked into the Ventura County Jail.

According to Ventura Police Department spokesman Sgt. Fabian Gutierrez, at 5:45 a.m. Sunday,
November 30, officers were dispatched to “reports of an armed robbery that had occurred about
15 minutes earlier.”

The victim told police he was “taking a morning walk near the beachfront
when “two men approached him and one suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money.”
The victim was forced to the ground and kicked in the head multiple times.

As he tried to get up and run, the suspect chased him and struck him in the head with the gun. “Both suspects fled in a
light-colored sedan.”

As detectives worked the case, officers learned that another nearby resident was assaulted in the
same area around the same time. Both victims provided similar suspect descriptions, and video
footage showed a light-colored sedan in the neighborhood before and after the incidents,
investigators said.

Following the release of information about the attacks, an additional victim contacted detectives
and reported being shot with a BB gun.

Schooler-Hart was transported to Ventura County Jail and was booked on
suspicion of robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse,
battery and negligent discharge of a firearm. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
