Joint Agency Pursuit Leads to Arrest and Seizure of Firearms in Desert Hot Springs

PALM SPRINGS, CA – Officers from the Palm Springs Police Department and the Desert Hot Springs Police Department conducted a joint operation on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, following a vehicle pursuit that began around noon. The incident initiated when Palm Springs officers attempted to stop a vehicle identified as stolen. The driver did not stop, leading to a pursuit that transitioned into the jurisdiction of Desert Hot Springs.

During the event, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department deployed a drone to maintain visual contact with the vehicle from the air. When the vehicle pursuit concluded, the driver fled on foot, navigating over fences through the surrounding area. The drone monitored the individual’s movements and identified them entering a residence located in the 66400 block of Cahuilla Avenue.

Desert Hot Springs officers established a perimeter around the residence. Shortly thereafter, a male subject exited the building. Officers observed that the subject had a partially shaved head and leg injuries consistent with climbing fences. It was later determined that the subject was currently on felony probation for auto theft and felony evading.

According to department reports, the individual confessed to being the driver of the stolen vehicle and was taken into custody by Palm Springs Police. Following the arrest, authorities executed a search warrant at the residence, which resulted in the seizure of narcotics and two illegal firearms. The firearms were recovered from a person with a prior felony conviction.
