Detectives with the Riverside Police Department’s Robbery–Homicide Unit have arrested a third individual in relation to a shooting that took place on October 5, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. in a parking lot located in the 3900 block of Main Street. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered 26-year-old Eduardo Vasquez III with a gunshot wound. Vasquez was transported to a local medical facility in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on December 12.
The initial investigation led to the arrests of 19-year-olds Uriel Morales and Benjamin Boshae on October 9. Continued investigative efforts identified 20-year-old Fidel Esparza as a third suspect. On December 16, members of the METRO Team located and arrested Esparza in Moreno Valley. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of murder and robbery. Currently, all three suspects remain in custody.
Lieutenant Trinidad Lomeli, supervisor of the Centralized Investigations Bureau, noted that the incident serves as a reminder for individuals to maintain awareness in entertainment districts. The Riverside Police Department provided several safety recommendations, including staying mindful of surroundings, keeping personal valuables out of sight, and utilizing well-lit parking areas.
Law enforcement officials believe there may be additional witnesses to the robbery or shooting who have not yet provided statements.
