FREMONT, CA — Antwone A. Spruill, 28, of Fremont, was arrested on December 13, following
vehicle collision, and death of a pedestrian nearby. Spruill was taken into custody, after being
treated for his own injuries at a hospital.
Spruill was transported to Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. He was booked on suspicion of
traffic related violations.
Results of a toxicology report are pending to determine if
alcohol/drugs contributed to the accident, and potential criminal charges are pending.
The accident occurred on December 13. Fremont officers observed a vehicle speeding and
driving recklessly on Osgood Road, and attempted a traffic stop.
The vehicle sped away and the police temporarily lost sight of it.
Shortly afterwards, the vehicle evidently ran a red light. It collided with another car, before
hitting a pedestrian on the sidewalk.
The accident happened near the intersection of Osgood Road and South Grimmer Boulevard.
The pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other
motorist involved in the collision was medically examined and released at the scene of the
accident.
Investigators are reviewing evidence for charges to submit the Alameda County District
Attorney’s Office. The evidence collected includes recorded video. Any witnesses with

Incidentally, Spruill has a prior conviction on his record for possession of a controlled
substance for sale in October 2020.
