Arrest Made in Relation to Alleged Gun Threats over Memorial Vandalism

WOODLAND, CA — Law enforcement officials with the Woodland Police Department have made an arrest in connection with an incident involving criminal threats with a firearm that occurred earlier this month. The incident took place on December 2, 2025, near the intersection of Railroad Street and Elliot Street. Two individuals were present at the location to visit a friend’s memorial when they observed an unknown subject actively damaging the memorial structure.

The subject reportedly departed the area in a gray sedan but returned shortly afterward and again engaged in damaging the memorial. When the two individuals confronted the subject regarding the vandalism, the subject retrieved a handgun from the vehicle and subsequently threatened them. According to reports, additional threats were issued, indicating the victims would be shot if they moved.

Through investigative procedures, officers successfully identified the suspect as 19-year-old Justin Gutierrez, a resident of Woodland.

On December 9, 2025, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Gutierrez. Contact was established with Gutierrez, and he was taken into custody. During the search conducted at the residence, officers recovered multiple firearms along with controlled substances. Following the arrest, Gutierrez was booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges related to firearms.
