Double Homicide Reported Following Confrontation on US-395 in Quincy Area
QUINCY, CA — A highway violence incident on southbound US-395 resulted in the deaths of two individuals on the morning of December 6, 2025. The event took place at approximately 8:50 a.m. in the vicinity of the Long Valley Agricultural Inspection Station.
The confrontation involved two vehicles, each occupied by multiple individuals, all of whom have been identified as residents of Reno, Nevada. Reports indicate that both vehicles pulled to the right shoulder of the highway, where a physical confrontation ensued. A shooting subsequently occurred between the involved parties.
A California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer from the Portola Resident Post, who was conducting patrol in the immediate area, arrived on the scene as the shooting transpired. The officer immediately secured the area, detained all individuals, and commenced administering medical aid to the injured. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the site of the incident.
Multiple allied agencies responded to provide assistance with scene security, the necessary closure of the highway, and the ongoing investigation. Authorities have identified all involved parties, including the individuals suspected of involvement in the shooting. The CHP stated that there is currently no ongoing threat to public safety.
