CHP Pursuit on I-80 Ends with Arrest of Unlicensed Motorcyclist with Prior Evasion History
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2025, a traffic enforcement stop initiated by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Francisco motor officer on I-80 eastbound resulted in a subsequent pursuit. The stop, which occurred on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB), was for a vehicle code violation involving an expired registration dating back to 2022.
Motor Officer A. Davis (Badge #22048) initiated the stop on a Yamaha R6 motorcycle. The motorcyclist initially appeared to be yielding as both vehicles approached the Treasure Island off-ramp. However, instead of taking the exit, the operator of the motorcycle reportedly accelerated rapidly back into traffic. The individual began lane splitting at speeds that exceeded 100 miles per hour across eastbound lanes, an action the CHP characterized as an attempt to evade apprehension on a high-traffic segment of the Bay Area corridor.
The attempt to evade continued onto I-580 eastbound and subsequently onto State Route 24 eastbound, heading toward the Caldecott Tunnel. The motorcyclist ultimately yielded to Officer Davis and was taken into custody without further incident.
The individual, identified as a 26-year-old male, was later determined not to possess a basic driver’s license or a required motorcycle endorsement. Furthermore, records indicate that the rider had a previous arrest for evading a peace officer in an unrelated incident.
